I actually thought this article reads very well for the S. I'm more interested in it now to replace my 1x that I was before. Should be a great little 2nd machine. Doesnt matter that it's not 4k as my 1x would have gone upstairs onto a 1080p TV. Series X will be for my B9OLED 👍
I'm sorry but that thing is not a looker. It's absolutely huge, more so than the original xbox one VCR that many on this site criticised. Bigger that the PS3. It's the bent George Foreman Grill mk2. Huge great lump.
Haha. Most comments on Eurogamer: it looks like a router or it's pregnant. Comments on N4G: I love it and its sexy.
Such a Sony site. Personally I think the disc version looks odd and the whole unit looks quite large but it probably needs to be. And people said MS were bold.
Yes but it sounds like they are wringing the neck out of the PS5 to achieve that using boost clocks. Sustained TF vs Peak. Also wider CU spread and mem bandwidth for the RT. PS5 will be a great console but lets not kids ourselves here. MS have engineered XSX to be a high end powerful unit with little to no compromise
To me it was fairly apparent from the way they presented it that this boost function is best case. I genuinely think that perhaps the original rumours of 9.2 were correct and that Sony have looked to the boost as a way of maintaining a perception of being over 10 and within reach of XSX. A bit smoke and mirrors. From this article my biggest takeaway is the use of the term 'sustained' (XSX) and 'peak' PS5. That really sums it up.
Common its effing obvious it probably was 9.2 at around just under 2GHZ and they've 'boosted' it on back of XSX specs to be over 10 as the perception at 10 or more is less of a gulf. How stupid do they think people are? This will come out in the wash in years to come as another 4 last minute change to 8GB ram moment.
Lets see how often it can run at 10.2 equivalent. Sony supply chain now probably frantically seeing what they can do with that cooler to improve he...
So my read.
MS - better hardware
MS - better system software and Back/forward compat features plus upgrades for older games
S - Maybe cheaper??? assumption
S - Strong exclusives always
For me. Upgrade from my X, use my gamepass ultimate on an XSX, looking forward to flight sim and upgrades to some of my existing titles.
Sony probably still sell more units overall due to brand strength and maybe they go a bit c...
Cerny clever guy and was engaging presentation but just sounds like Depp when he played Willy Wonka
Mate that is nearly an entire PS4 so yes you will see a difference for sure. Also lets see how often the PS5 can run at its highest clock.
10.3 if they run it at full frequency. So basically it was 9.2 and they are running boost. This is going to be interesting on the cooling. I hope Lens Of Truth comes back for next gen.
So apart from I/O speed and possibly sound its deficient to XSX in every other metric.
Still a decent bit of kit and will probably sell more due to strength of the PS brand but I'm glad I invested in the MS ecosystem myself. funny how console gens flip-flop. Back to th...
Best place to play multi-plat is also important (excepting PC of course). 360 proved that for COD etc. The PS4 for this gen early on until the mid-gen refreshes turned up.
Good lord, a very potent bit of kit
On an otherwise depressing day this is all gravy to us gamers especially those who love their X and want to upgrade to this daddy.
Take my pre-order now!
??? #fakenews #not13TF
The X was for serious gamers who wanted premium console. XSX will be more so. As a guy in his early 40's I'm happy to spend a bit more on a beast without building a monster PC.
So Zen 2 and RDNA 2 and 12TF of GPU, VRR, hardware RT and other goodies.
Things going to be a power colossus of a console. Cant wait to see what it will do with my existing library let alone the new stuff.
My view. It's not just that it's better on X over pro, it's by just how much. It's really a huge feat. Massive pixel advantage and it runs better. That 320gbs memory bandwidth makes the difference. The X is just highly optimised as they promised. If it was 4k on x but the framerate was poor people would be saying they've pushed the machine too far in pursuit of 4k. Yet it apparently still performs better than the rest. You have to tip your hat.
To those...
its a really fun game people. I've had 3 evenings on it with a mate and we have barely scratched the surface yet apart from building up our gold collection rep and seeing if we can run a sloop onto a beach at fun speed.
Listen I love my xbox but that headline is sensationalist bollocks. At best you could say that a £450 console can now punch its weight with a mid tier PC - at best. The CPU tech is way behind PC.
Sounds like describing this as dynamic 4K is a bit of a marketing stretch here. I'm sure it plays great though but I can see the some of the hardcore COD crowd coming back to the green side.
People talking shit for years at MS not having the games. Well they do now. When they want to their spending power is formidable
